On Your Marks, Get Set...

This time next week the nation will be settling down to watch Danny Boyle’s imaginings of Britain.  Sheep, fake clouds and a village green cricket match are all to star in the biggest show on Earth, the opening ceremony for the 2012 London Olympic Games.  By this time we will already be two days into the Olympic Food Challenge* and will hopefully have plenty of exiting new recipes to share.

I don't know about the rest of the team but I'm starting to get a bit nervous.  I have now spent quite a lot of time researching my allotted 19 countries and there are still large gaps in my meal planner.  There are only a couple of Nations that I defiantly know what I'm going to cook for, the rest are still up for grabs.

Having kept a daily food blog for the best part of a year I am well aware of the potential for things to get a bit hectic.  I know that by the time a meal is cooked and eaten and all of the washing up is done, there can be little time left for writing.  I also know that we all live busy lives.  There will be days, I'm sure, when rather than 12 new blog posts to link to there will only be 1 or 2.  Likewise, there will be days where people have been catching up with their writing and publish 2 or 3 recipes.

I'll be trying to stay on top of all of this and publishing a list of the day’s blogs. But just in case you have missed a country that you were looking forward to, or don't want to trawl through a jumble of posts to find it, I have set a full list of the National Olympic Committees as a separate page.  I will update this every time a new country's food is cooked so it will be easier for everybody.  I'm now off to do some gentle warm up exercises in the hope that I'm at my best come the big day.  This is going to be fun.

*The Olympic Food Challenge starts early because the sport starts two days before the ceremony.  By the time the Olympic flame is lit the football and archery will both already be under way.

  1. Really looking forward to seeing what everyone make for their different nations. Looking forward to seeing the round ups and links too - hope to find some inspiration in there!
